Tansian University adopts a holistic concept of education. The process of education in the Institution is not seen primarily as a process of acquiring knowledge but also the inculcation of virtues that would progress through successive stages of rebirth to become more godlike, to lead his immediate and extended environment. This follows the etymology of education delivered from the Latin word, Educo, educare, educavi, educatum and its variant, Duci, ducere, duxi, ductum, which means to ‘lead.’

Quite unlike most tertiary institutions, Tansian University was not born out of a desire to make name and acquire material wealth, but to fulfill an innate desire to develop youths and empower them for the challenges of a changing world.
Established in 2007 and duly licensed by the Federal Government of Nigeria under the supervision of the National Universities Commission (NUC), Tansian University stands as a fully accredited private institution committed to academic excellence and national development. The University is owned and operated by the Missionary Sons of Blessed Tansi Congregation (Tansian Missionaries), a respected religious body dedicated to educational and moral advancement. Inspired by the life, virtues, and spiritual legacy of Blessed Michael Iwene Tansi, the University integrates rigorous academic training with strong ethical and character formation. Emphasizing integrity, discipline, service, and leadership, Tansian University nurtures graduates who are intellectually competent, morally grounded, and socially responsible. Our holistic approach to education ensures that students are equipped not only with professional knowledge and skills, but also with the values necessary to make meaningful contributions to society and the global community.
With a view to enriching the curriculum, the University has established some academic support units to facilitate the academic departments in their direct teaching areas.
Each academic support unit is established to facilitate learning and assist students in attaining the objective of a ‘total man’ fully equipped to face the challenges of life outside the university environment.
Although Tansian University has Catholic affiliation, its doors are open to students from all religious backgrounds to obtain quality education. Every student of Tansian University is free to worship in the manner of his/her belief.
Tansian University has a heart for everyone, be you Anglican, Catholic, Muslim, Seventh Adventist, etc. No student or group of students shall disturb others in the course of exercising their religious belief or evoke any religious unrest through the demonstration of fanaticism of any sort on Campus.
Every graduate of Tansian University is automatically a member of the Tansian University Alumni Association, which currently has over 5,000 members. The association serves as a unifying body for graduates, strengthening their connection to the institution and to one another.
Its aims and objectives include fostering fellowship and positive cooperation among members, furthering the philosophy and goals of Tansian University, and enhancing the career prospects of alumni. The association also seeks to support the university and its students, engage with national and international issues, participate in the education and reorientation of future alumni, contribute to the university’s management and future development, and remain committed to advancing the welfare of the alma mater and humanity at large.
